Our European Tour
Still not gone
(By Tracey- February 10, 2018)

Dates 7th – 10 Feb

We still haven’t got the v5 that says we own the vehicle. Which means we can’t go out of the country with Bertie. Therefore we have packed the van and gone to Hunstanton, well Dersingham to be precise.  The van is working well. We have had snow, wind and biting cold outside but nice and snug inside.  These 3 days have been working days, so 8 hours sat at a laptop, doing my stuff. I’m pleased to say that both the campsite WiFi ( using our booster) and mobile 4G roof antenna have both worked as hoped, in fact on the whole the sound quality on the calls I have done has been better than at home.  It was good to give the van a try. One evening we took Bertie into Hunstanton, parked on the cliff road and sat looking out to sea while eating our evening meal, the wind was lashing the van but we were nice and comfortable.  We had one issue, the boiler has a safety valve that empties it, if the temperature falls below 4.  In use this would not happen as the van is heated, but arriving on site when the temperature is 0 was an issue.  To get the valve to shut off we needed to get the heating on, to get the heating on we had to fill the boiler.  But all issues are solvable, John holding the valve in for an hour was option 1, but instead we went for a knife wedging the valve shut. Apart from that all is working, and we are even more ready to go.

Temperature for the 3 days around zero day and night.

Campsite – Pinecones, typical smallish but listed campsite ( not our normal camping 5 unit site).  Nice toilets, each room is larger individual shower room and toilet. Site flat with fully serviced hard standings.  Busy despite the time of year.  Just of the main road but noise not too bad.  Not the sort of site we’d stop on but decided to try a larger site. Its expensive (£18), feels like a car park for caravans, has a small shop. I’d not come to it again but it’s done the job.

And the good news the DVLA web site shows our van at the new weight. Hopefully the v5 is behind the door when we get home tomorrow.  The boat is almost in sight.
