Luxembourg – silly observations
(By Tracey- August 31, 2019)

We didn’t spend long in Luxembourg so I don’t have many silly little observations.

  • Firstly it can’t decide what nation it is, so much of the things around are French. Walk along a street and eateries will be a mixture of creperies and currywurst outlets.  In a supermarket half the food will be typically French the other half German. It doesn’t have a feel of it’s own just a combination of these other 2 countries.
  • Lots of language signs in 3 languages. I gave up trying to use any broken few words of any possible local language and just dived in with English. John’s French didn’t seem to get him too far either.
  • Lots of roads have a maximum weight limit of 3.5t bit of a problem for us.  When the Tom tom takes you a strange way you don’t know if it is tom toms usual weird routing or if it taking you around a 3.5t limit. We spent hours on street view stepping along road junctions checking our route.  Mind you our tom tom doesn’t seem to know about most the the height/weight restrictions.
  • Drivers don’t understand zebra crossing, speed restrictions and patience, they have been having lessons from the Italians.
