Zaragoza
· Spain
It’s so good to be abroad again, even if it is Spain again. We have lots of reasons for not going further afield and somewhere new. We have been to this aire before, €0 next to the main road, no electricity but opposite the tram stop. It’s good for what we want. It is just a car park you can sleep in, with clean and dirty water facilities. I liked Zaragoza much more than I did the last time we were here, that has something to do with us knowing where the main square was and not spending hours wandering around the scruffy parts of town. We arrived on John’s birthday but having been up since 5:45 this morning we didn’t feel like doing much. This is only a passing stop on the way to the coast. It was nice to drive on roads that are not stupidly busy and walk around in a jacket rather than a thick coat. The sun was out and the sky was blue, if a little cool. It was raining when we first landed but it soon stopped. The ferry crossing was fine, in fact I rather enjoyed not being able to do much for 32 hours. We did lots of sleeping. In the run up to coming away we have done a lot of DIY and delayed Christmas get togethers, and then mum has been ill so that has taken some time up, it had been rather non stop. Having spent two years learning Spanish I was keen to put my new knowledge to the test. Twice I tried, twice I failed! Not the best start, even asking for a tea was not understood. I think I will let John do the talking from now on, he has been doing French but he does better than me at Spanish even though he isn’t even trying to learn it. Oh and van issues, I expect two when we go away, the first is some of the lights have blown a fuse and renewing the fuse resulted in a lot of sparks and a second fuse blown.
