Virgen del Mar
· Spain
We decided to move to Santander so we only had 15 mins drive to the ferry. As we summited the mountain range we saw the bank of clouds. The campsite was dull and cold. We had just left beautiful sunshine. The site is expensive at €20, the spots are narrow, so narrow you can’t put your chairs down the side of the van, the WC emptying was blocked and the bins were overflowing. We strolled down to the coast and sat on the beach with sandwiches , and my mood lifted and the sun broke through the clouds. The coast here is rather nice, lots of little coves and limestone cliffs. We walked to a village and had a beer and a paddle before returning along the cliff path. When I say cliff path, this is the sort of path that would be roped off in the UK for safety reasons but it was a nice path. We lashed out on a meal at the restaurant and said our goodbyes to Spain. We hope to get back to Europe in Autumn but we now are not allowed in Europe for 90 days. As they say there are some winners and some losers from Brexit, but at least now we are able to use pesticides again and start killing more bees. Next stop Northumberland.
