Torriglia

Another free car park, this time in the hills and by a small but very active hill town with lovely views down the valley. The services were questionable, the toilet emptying is under a man hole cover you have to lift and empty the loo directly into the cesspit but it does the job. We went for a lovely bike ride to Lago di Brugneto (lake) over the hills, steep at one point but not too long and had a picnic at the side of the lake. All the Italian children were tucking into their Easter eggs. It’s worth saying Italian Easter eggs cost a lot of money and come nicely wrapped in coloured silver foil making them look very attractive. We didn’t sample any eggs but we did buy a Canestrelletto, which is small short-pastry biscuit in the shape of a six pointed star, with a hole in the middle, a speciality of the area. Apparently Torriglia is not only the centre Canestrelletto but also the centre for UFO sighting in Italy, however despite eyes peeled on the sky we didn’t see one. I did see my first hooded crow.
