Tanji Canoe Trip

Tanji Canoe trip(twice) – this was a 6:20am leave! Starting at sunrise you sit in a pirogue (canoe) and get paddled up the creek, while a guide points out lots of birds to you. At the far end you have breakfast, the first time we stood in the creek, the second time we paddled to and island. I managed to get covered in lots of mud going through to the “toilet” , my sandals acting as big flippers, flipping the rather gooey mud up my back. It gave people a laugh anyway. In true Gambian fashion the pirogues had seen better days and had to be bailed out regularly. The toilets, a camping toilet behind a screen, I really don’t want to think about where it was emptied
