Back to Swanage again. I never used to understand why people went back to the same places time and again, and here we are back in Swanage. We haven't looked at any houses this time, but we have spent a lot of time discussing if we are really going to move to here. We have done all our favourite walks: Old Harry's rocks over Ballard Down, this is one to do if you are ever in this area, as you reach the summit the view of Poole habour on one side and Swanage bay on the other will always bring a smile to your face, it is stunning. Corfe castle over nine burrow down, let you imagaination run wild on what is or was in those barrows, the treasure hords buried with the dead.
A trip to Swanage would not be complete without a walk to dancing ledge, we cycled to Worth Matravers and then walked to dancing ledge, via seacombe returning along the priest way and of course joined the queue at the square and compass for a pint at the end of the walk. A walk along studland beach, no nudist this year, but the sauna on the beach (in the textiled part of the beach) was very popular. We were dogding rain so spent more time sat in the beach front cafe than walking on this day.
This is not my favorite campsite, but it's open at this time of year and it is on the bus route, so Barmouth and Poole were visited on less favourable weather days and a new swimming costume was searched for unsuccessfully. We used the threatre, it's a lovely old fashioned place run by volunteers. we went to see three "shows", Downtown Abbey (total crap), a play "Making a killing", excellent acting, but no story line, "This history of Rock" a cover band doing Led Zeppelin , Thin Lizzy and that sort of era. It was excellent, but most of the audience where our age or older. That's a bit sobering.
The campsite has a pool which we used, it closes early so we only used it twice, during the day we want to make use of the sunlight at this time of year. As I put my swimming costume on there was that cracking that happens to old elastic. Now I wear a typical old fashioned speedo, I used to claim I could swim, but then I met people who could swim, nevertheless I still like a costume that allows me to move with confidence in the pool. Unfortunately with the elastic going, I wasn't convinced that the life guard wasn't getting more of a view than he would care for with every stroke of my front crawl, hence the trip to Poole for a new costume.
I might not like the campsite, but I'll be back, although next time we may hire a B&B so we can have the car and do some serious reconnaissance of the villages that may be suitable to live in.
