Stage 19 Byrness to Trows
· Pennine Way
This is a steady up hill all day until the last 3 miles. Nothing too taxing other than the distance. A bit of a hand and feet scramble climb in the first hour but after that just up hill walking. Lots of bogs of course. Luckily we didn’t find the deep bog the a fellow walker fell in the day before up to his waist. Today the walking was nice bogs and grass with no hard stones, so we made good time. This was a timed walk as you are picked up at the end and taken back to the same B&B we were in last night. I have developed a blister on my heel now that is rather large and compeed is not dealing with it. The sun shone with a nice cooling breeze, the scenery is stunning as the Cheviots come into view. Not a bad way to bring a walk to near completion . It was nice to have my brother join us for this days walking (and the stage 20)
Forrest view – brilliant run place aimed at walkers. Greeted with a cold drink in the garden. Nice food, good service like the mini bus to the end/start of the walk. The rooms, recently decorated could do with modernising to 2021 but other wise all is good. Byrness is basically a cul-de-sac of houses. They held their Christmas party tonight, Christmas tree and tinsel are hung around the close, carols then 70’s music is the background to neighbours having a festive time.
