Stage 14 Garrigill to Slaggyford
· Pennine Way
This was a much shorter walk – only 9.5 miles and we were back before 3 o’clock. This was mostly through meadows so kinder on the feet as well. We declined the packed lunch from the B&B as we were passing a Spar on route. The deli counter was irresistible. We could have bought lots but settled on Banoffee tarts, samosas and onion bahjees. A nice change from cheese sandwiches.
Harburt Law B&B – pleasant enough accommodation but doesn’t do evening meals. Unfortunately since it’s a half hour walk along the Pennine Way from Alston that isn’t very convenient when your wanting to rest your weary feet.
