Sinalunga

· Italy

The sosta (car park) was for the railway station and had 3 dedicated motorhome spots complete with electricity and water with the price tag of €0. Sinalunga is a typical red brick Tuscan hill top town with a nice church and great views over the green Tuscan rolling hills

Montepulciano is 17K away from Sinalunga and a tourist trap. It was ruined on the day we cycled to it as the May day market took over much of the lower town, neither John or I like markets. From the market we did buy some Brigidino di Lamporecchio. These brigidini are typical sweets of Lamporecchio , a town in the province of Pistoia, Tuscany. They are yellow-orange discs with a curved surface, about seven centimetres in diameter. The ingredients of the pasta used to make them are: sugar , flour , eggs and liquid essence of anised and they are very moreish. We did see some nice old parts of the town and a few wine cellars but we didn’t try any wine! On the way we also stopped in Torrita di Siena another hill top town, this has a very nice located sosta also with free electricity but we decided not to move as we planned to use the train the day after.

We had been going to get the train to Siena from here but it would have cost €25 and to be honest we have done loads of towns in a row so we moved on into the countryside instead.
