Salzburg

Mozart! Mozart sweets, streets, cafes, ornaments, nick- nacks are the main focus of this town. W A’s birthplace and later residence have been turned into museums for all to wander around. You can see his violin and various other replicas. You can stand, looking stunned at original copies of manuscripts and of course we did. We didn’t pay the €40 to see one of the many concerts. Salzburg is another place we wandered around and said this would be nice in summer. Big open squares, filled with drinking establishments, all empty on the rain soaked days. The lower alps surrounding this town nestled in the valley, protected (I assume) from the worst of the weather. We paid for a city pass and ran through the rain from one museum to another. First the Fortress Hohensalzburg, a castle on on the hill with views. Then the birthplace and residence of Mozart, then art at the DomQuartier by which time closing time was upon us. We went to sleep that night (or in my case didn’t, I really should not drink coffee) to the foxes calling and the crash of thunder. If only I had time I would get my clarinet out and play some Mozart.
