We spent 4 days here. A long time for us, but we decided with only a week to make it easy on ourselves and there was a lot to do here.
The aire was decent, until it filled up at the weekend and other vans blocked our view. It is 12 euros here and if you get the right spot that includes electricity, when we started going away in a motorhome I would have thought that expensive, now I think that is cheap.
We did two longish bike rides. One looping on the coastal area one way, the second to the next town along the coast in the opposite direction. We also did a 12 mile walk along the coast. This is a mudflat area so the sea and birds are a long way away. One of the things with birdwatching is that lots of birds become standard, so just some mallard, just more egrets, more shelducks. One we did see that got me excited was a stork circling overhead. The big excitement in the area is seals, lots and lots of seals, heads bobbing among the waves.
The area is pleasant, small resorts with cafe’s, restaurants, St Valery sur Somme itself is a bigger, small town with a street of gift shops and restaurants on the side of the Somme. Very nice for perambulating along in the late afternoon sun.
