Rhandirmwyn – Mid Wales

This is a wow site. The scenery is stunning. In the UK you have to book sites in advance which is a shame as I would love to have stopped here for longer. We only just scratched the surface of walks and bike rides we could do. The site (another expensive camping and caravan club site) is nicely located in a valley. With nuthatches nesting over the door to the office. There is a RSPB Gwenffrwd-dinas just up the road, so we had a nice day with the new lens, the birds we captured and were able to identify were pied flycatcher, yellowhammer, nuthatch, coal tit, marsh tit (or maybe black cap or willow tit) and the normal birds that I see in my garden. There were many more that I just couldn’t identify. We did a walk to Reservoir Brianne (19miles) and a bike ride (48 miles) to reservoir Usk. The bike ride has some long steep hill, which we did with our panniers full of a weeks shopping just to add a bit of extra resistance on the hills. I liked Llandovery as a town, felt very homely, with a small square and small shops. We passed a campsite that we once looked at buying, that’s makes two campsites we have past this month we looked at buying.

The issues with Bertie continue. The first day on site we noticed we had a flat tyre, it was fine when we arrived, I have photo evidence. We called the AA as we have always been advised against using the jack that comes with the van. Then we arranged for new tyres from the local garage, they arrived on site with the new tyre just as we were about to leave to drive to the garage, bit of a misunderstanding, but good timing. We ended up changing 3 in the end (only 3 as that is all they had) and putting the unused spare tyre on the fourth wheel, and the the least worn tyre on the spare. Complex and costly.
