We are heading home. We have just over a week to get to Calais. This aire promised a lot from its reviews. It’s in the countryside next to a race track. I think chariot racing, the only thing we saw going around the race track was a robotic mower. In the middle of the race track is the town park, village pond, boules court, picnic tables etc. It’s all very pleasant. This village offers a few shops, enough for us. We decided it was time to do a longish walk so we packed up a picnic, drew a route and off we plodded. I’d picked a route that passed some lakes, unfortunately these were all private lakes behind fences and although they looked pleasant they didn’t offer somewhere to have our picnic. Instead we ended up eating on the church steps of a small church. It was cold, very cold wind, I was tempted to go and eat inside the church. We could have paid our money and gone to see some chateau gardens, in a village where we saw no one. The walk was pleasant, but like a lot of the countryside around here that’s all, nothing too stunning to report, not even good bird spots.
