Posada de Valdeòn

This was right in the national park an quite a spectacular place to stay. We stayed 3 nights and had a splendid weekend of walking and cycling. We followed the river walk to Cain on the Saturday, stopping for the obligatory 12€ lunch before doing the 10K walk back up the hill. On the Sunday we took the bikes out the other road out of the village for a 10K uphill, 10K downhill ride over to Portilla de la Reina. On Monday we went back to Cain (by bike this time, not walking) and did the first part of the Cares Gorge trail. The longest gorge in Europe, or so someone told us. We didn’t have time to do the whole thing. That’s not just an excuse because I have no head for heights (The walkway is mainly on a ledge just a few feet across). Well, possibly.
