We are a bit random when it comes to choosing places to go. We had drawn a route that basically takes us home, but hopefully covers some national parks. We chose a spot that took us just short of an hour along that route. It was a car park at 5 euros a night plus metered electricity. It was a lovely peaceful carpark with linnets and black redstarts in the trees around us. After lunch we looked for something to do. It was 30+ degrees. I noticed a lido next to us. It was huge, 4 pools, lots of grass to lay on. I love swimming! So to the pool it was. I bashed out some 50 metre lengths while John completed his few and went to read on the grass. One of the few activities John and I don’t see eye to eye on is swimming. How can you not like swimming in an outdoor pool? As I turned my head to breathe, my arm framing the picture I saw both buzzard and stork, you don’t get that in grotty st ives pool. After doing my lengths I joined John on the grass, opened my book when my attention was captured by a clap of thunder. I turned back to my book. Alas the guards were having none of it “Achtung!Achtung!” echoed over the loudspeakers. My evening of bliss ruined, but a great afternoon. We moved after one night, I did question the logic as it was still nice weather and we needed some downtime, but move we did.
