Monaco

Given this is a separate country I’ve given it it’s own pin, but we didn’t take Bertie nor stop overnight. It’s the first time I have walked around a Forumla 1 race track. The roads where edged with heavy steel barriers, the marble pillars of one building covered in wooden protectors. The race is in a months time so there are preparations everywhere. We went to see the palace and the bits you’d expect (throne room, reception staircase etc) all exquisite and fit for a prince, and outside the guard change on the hour. We looked at the grave of Grace Kelly, (Princess Grace) in what I thought was a nice cathedral with grey stripped stone, clean cut lines and lovely marble floors (described by the guide book as unremarkable). Monaco is clean, and tidy, even the train station and all the free public toilets. There is no doubt that this is a place that has loads of money but unlike say Dubai it is not overstated. I’d certainly return.
