Marigné-Laillé

We set off sharpish to this aire, it was a 2.5 hour drive and we wanted to beat the Easter rush. When we arrived 1 spot out of the 14 was taken, it remained that way until the next day when it had a massive 4 vans in occupancy. The view from the van is of a small fishing pond onto the fields beyond. The sound here is a multitude of birds and frogs. My sort of site. It’s 14 euros, with water, electricity, showers and toilets. It is actually a campsite, or was, now run by Camping Car Parks, one of the main companies that run aires in France. It has other facilities like table tennis, playground and petanque courts. The area has nothing immediately. Ecommoy is a nice small pretty town 20 mins cycle ride away and provided us with groceries for the weekend. Marigné-Laillé village has a restaurant, cum shop cum bakery which provided the mandatory baguette but unfortunately the restaurant was closed for Easter, which was a shame because at 11 euros a head, to eat the one plate of the day seemed like it would be well worth it. We did a shortish walk (6 miles) to the nearby forest, enjoying a picnic by the babbling stream. We stayed a second day but John has shared his cold with me, and having fought with it for a few days I decided to have a day just at the van, writing blogs, doing Russian homework, listening to the birds and sleeping. I’ll be sad to leave this place but it’s time to move on.
