Le Perthus

We cycled here from St Jean Plas de Corts. We thought it would be fun to cycle to Spain, all 20K or so. Le Perthus has the French / Spanish border going down it’s main street. The shops are all on the Spanish side and we got lunch for the same price we paid for 2 drinks in Bordeaux. If I thought this was a typical Spanish town I would turn the van towards Italy, fortunately I know this dump is not typical of Spain. Imagine a cheap run down UK town aimed at shoppers. Only here all the shopping is en masse. If you like cheap clothes, leather goods and bulk food & drink you may like this place. I’ll never be back. However 5 mins outside the town and you have the most stunning scenery possible.
