Le Barcarés
· France
After the relentless rain and below par temperatures of Bordeaux we decide to quicken the pace southwards. So after dropping the boys off at Bordeaux early on the Sunday morning we drove for the rest of the day to the south coast, arriving eventually at Le Baracarés near Perpignan. This was quite a pleasant spot by the port but it’s a huge site with 200 places. It was about half full when we arrived.Unfortunately whilst setting off Bertie had an argument with a sign hanging on a tree at the campsite we were leaving and finished up with a damaged door handle. We took it to a motorhome repairer in nearby Narbonne and managed to organise a replacement part and an estimate of the bill (not small!). Unfortunately it could take three weeks for the part and so we are temporarily delayed in going to Spain. Unless we nip across the border and come back – it’s not far. Still it gives us time to see a bit more of France. There’s lots of pretty countryside around here although the towns seem to be geared up for the summer beach tourists.
