Heidelberg – April

· Germany

We came to stay with Matthew and Anya to help with wedding planning, originally to help buy the dress, but Anya found a lovely dress before I got there, so we did what we could on other elements of the wedding. Hopefully we were of assistance. So an unusual holiday, we went to flower shops and talked about wedding flowers, we went to the hotel and talked about the wedding, we sat in the park tasting wedding cakes, and Anya and I went accessory shopping. I must mention the wedding fair, it was very ageist. Matthew and Anya kept getting stopped and being asked if they were interested in whatever the stall was selling. John and I were stopped once! When we were not looking at wedding stuff (to be honest most of the time) we did what we do, we walked, into the hills to a very impressive observation tower, we walked along the spring bloom path and up Königstuhl hill (3 separate walks). We also went to Spyre which was very lively as they had a wine tasting and we introduced Anya to crazy golf. We investigated the campsite we will stop on in June and the zoo (we are not staying there in June before you ask!) Generally we had a nice time. The weather was strangely mixed, one day coat, scarf and gloves the next day t-shirt and shorts.
