Greetham, Rutland

· England

We stopped at a caravan and motorhome site in Greetham. Nice little village but not much to it, some interesting stone work on some of the houses. The campsite is a large site, well maintained with nice toilet facilities and a cafe, but also comes with a high price tag. The site is about 10 mins to Rutland water in a car. Rutland water is a large man made reservoir provide drinking water to East Anglia. Opened in 1976. Feed from the Rivers Welland and Nene and is one of the largest man made lakes in Europe, by surface area the largest in England but not by volume. We also visited the town of Oakham and wandered around the market. Best part of this trip was see friends who came to stop with us (some in our van, some in their own van). After the weekend we moved to a small site, above Rutland water and 5 mins walk to the waters edge. Lovely views, lovely walks and our sort of price tag, but no facilities other than tap and waste.
