Fort-Mahon-Plage

· France

We stopped in a relatively new aire, in walking distance from the town. France is really good at putting aires in good places. It 15 euros with electricity and water included. We where one town up from here last year so we knew what the town was like. Fort-Mahon-Plage is a linear town, with beach type gift shops and eateries lining the road that leads to the beach. The beach has no cafe/bars along the front, that is taken with accommodation, apart from one bar on the actual beach, which lets face it, you simply have to use. Twice in our case, they did a cracking sandwich at a sensible price (and we have not been to the supermarket yet!) and what better way to spend the afternoon than to sit drinking coffee and maybe a wine listen to the waves and watching the children play. Given John is nursing a cold this easy life was just what was needed. We moved to the beach for a little while , sleeping in the bar didn’t seem right! I liked this stopped and wanted to stay longer. On the morning we left I ran to some wild dune area that would have been great for walking and bird watching, but Easter is looming and we wanted to move on.
