El Campello

Pleasant, clean aire just to north of Alicante. We stayed there in order to see the Fogueres de San Juan (Bonfires of St John) in Alicante. The regions of the city build elaborate and colourful monuments of Papier Maché and bring them into the city centre a few days beforehand and then at midnight on Midsummer’s Day they set fire to them. Lots of other events going on as well including an International Folk Parade on the Saturday evening which was very extravagant.
