Take 6 Jazz bands, parade them down a short high street. Add a stage at the start of the high street and a second stage half way along, fill with 2 further jazz bands. Ensure the High Street is lined with cafes each sporting an outside area. Insert a Jazz band in some of the cafes. Throw in a few extra temporary bars and street food stands. Sprinkle in a few thousand people. You will need to improvise on how you move around as normal walking is impossible, your footfall will at time become syncopated as you miss a step to avoid the person in front of you, but even (if like me) you don’t like Jazz it is hard not to enjoy Domburg’s “Jazz by the Sea” weekend.
And Domburg was were we stopped for 5 nights, almost one of our longest stops. The coast here is beautiful, in a Norfolk coast way. We cycled to a few of the coastal towns which were all pleasant places. We even came across a fish and chip shop so we delighted in sitting on a bench, watching the sea and setting sun while eating a fish supper.
The parking was a campsite, (€20! plus tourist taxes), it was one of the nicest sites we have stopped on. Big indoor play area if you have young kids, snack bar, restaurant , shop, sauna (extra cost), big pitches. You could pay for a pitch with your own bathroom. My favourite bit was the indoor swimming pool included in the cost which means that I now have dry and wrinkly skin caused by chlorine rather than old age. It had the big site facilities but didn’t feel big, and maybe because it was out of season none of the things I dislike about campsites.
