This was a short stop on the way to Valencia where we have pre-booked a site. As soon as we pulled into the town John and I said in unison, we have been here before. In fact we cycled here from Benicàssim only two years ago. We walked to the square around the port, it was full of life, people out for Sunday lunch, it’s a big thing in Spain, and it was a lovely spring day for sitting and eating. However by the time we got to the square it was too late for lunch even by Spanish standards. The next day brought howling winds. Much of Spain is being covered in sand from the Sahara desert but actually we just had wind and grey sea mist. We decided on a lazy day, so we went for a meal in the now empty port square and enjoyed a hearty 3 course meal, paella being the main course. Another transaction completed totally in Spanish and I purposefully did not point at the menu. Mind you I definitely used the wrong tense at least once. The site is a car park (€0) for about 40 motorhomes, it is next to the beach so nicely position and it is well served with 3 motorhome service points and picnic tables, in these places you are not allow to get your own chairs out, hang washing etc, anything that might put you in the realms of camping instead of parking, but they do the job.
