Green houses, more of them, valleys of them, made from plastic. Any flat land will be full of them. They even quarry out the hillside to make more flat land for these things. I don’t want to think of the environmental impact of these greenhouses. But as I said in my last post lots of the land here is hills which they cannot build on, and let’s face it we have to eat. The farmer smake this worse by leaving all the plastic rubbish and other rubbish on the roads between the greenhouses. The trees are covered in plastic, blown there by the wind and decaying with age. Forget your beach clean up, come here and you will have a skip full of plastic for each half hour you spend litter picking. We did a 10 mile walk to a bay along the coast, by going up into the hills. Despite the greenhouses we had lovely views of the blue sea and blue skies, with the half way point at a rather nice bar where the sea was crashing on the rocks just below us. I have to say that once you are out of the greenhouses the scenery is magnificent and it’s easy to leave the greenhouses behind in the valley floor. On the second day we mapped out a ride into the hills to another of these pretty villages, 50 miles with a lot of climbing, but , well the sun was out, there is a nice restaurant 10 mins walk from the van, we had washing to do and being a new month a review of how we are doing against our budgets (always something to depress me!) and so the route was never even started, but I wore shorts and vest t-shirt sat doing budgets and Spanish homework in between doing the washing. Ironically this is the first day when we could have put the clothes out to dry, but it’s against the campsite rules so rather than having wet clothes hung around the van for another 3 days we used the dryer at the launderette across the road. We have paid for a campsite at €15 plus extra for showers, we are 4 vans away from the beach and can see the sea when inside the van.
