This is by far the nicest site we have stopped on this trip. The aire is on a farm, honesty box place, €5 a night. It’s down a single track road, always something to bring out the nerves as you travel on single track roads in a 2.4m wide 4 tonne vehicle, but it did have about 2 inches both sides of the wheels . The farm has lots of geese, chicken, sheep and lambs, and a dog who wants lots of fuss. The owls were screeching all night long. So the nicest site and we spend less than 11 hours here. We intended to travel through France over 2 days and get the tunnel on Tuesday but as France was now in lockdown we drove for as long as we felt we could take. Once again we are €120 lighter as we needed a full tank of diesel and I’m not even going to consider the cost of tolls, French tolls in a big vehicle equals a lot of money. We rebooked the tunnel crossing, bringing it forward a day. Carsix is only 4 hours from the terminal. At the terminal the customs lady told us there was talk of closing the border. The terminal building was closed (that didn’t bother us as we are already in self isolation) . A quick 30 mins under the sea and we are back in the UK, with it’s over-full motorways, by far the hardest drive of the 3 days as we are wheel to wheel with the cars either side of us, behind and in front. The UK doesn’t seem to notice there is a pandemic in the world, good old Britain. We are now in self isolation for 14 days. Oh and coughing…..
