Aveiro

· Portugal

Aveiro is a town of canals a little to the south of Porto. The local tourist information literature describes it as the “Venice of Portugal” which is a bit of an overstatement. It’s pleasant enough and killed a couple of hours of an afternoon but nothing more than that. We stayed about 20K to the south of Aveiro in an area adjacent to a water park. Reminded me a bit of Norfolk or even Skegness with the bracing wind off the sea. The weather definitely took a downturn whilst the boys were with us. Area was reasonable enough though. 9.50€ with electricity was a bit dearer than we’d been paying recently but acceptable and we had plenty of room. There were only two other vans on the site.
